Brief Introduction of Discipline
SEU-Monash University Joint Graduate School (Suzhou) (abbreviated below to Joint Graduate School) has been approved by MOE as a sino-foreign co-operative joint school, operating at Dushu Lake Higher Education District, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. The Joint Graduate School recruits postgraduate students under the National Graduate Enrollment Plan. The Joint Graduate School will fully utilize academic superiority and educational strengths of SEU as well as learn from Australian educational methods, training models and experience in disciplines such as in information industry, software engineering, municipal transport, and international business, to strive for producing professionals in the up disciplinary fields. Industrial design is a combination of applied art and applied science to improve the aesthetics, ergonomics, and usability of product , it may also be used to improve the product's marketability and production. The role of an industrial designer is to create and execute design solutions for problems of form, usability, physical ergonomics, marketing, brand development and sales.Training Objectives
The courses promote design practice by combining techniques and media as well as experimental methods. Students will be required to think, communicate, discuss in groups, examine current methods to help developing their design proficiency and design products. Generally, the students are expected to graduate in 2 or 2.5 years.Research Direction

Thesis Requirement
(1) Literature Reading (for reference only, the same below)Students are required to read at least 30 literatures on topics related to their thesis and research direction and to write a literature overview.
(2) Thesis Writing
In addition to compliance with the provisions of school, thesis must be written in a systematic and complete manner, presenting clear concepts, correct argument, realistic description, concise writing structure, smooth and concise writing style, correct calculation, reliable data, and clear icons. The number of words for the thesis could be fixed according to the features of different disciplines and the requirements of the topics chosen, generally, no more than 20,000 words.
(3) Thesis Evaluation
The thesis should be written based on students’ own study and research. The findings presented in the thesis should have high academic value and positive impact on economic development of China. Students are required to conduct at least one year research concerning the thesis topic.
(4) Achievement Test Requirement
At least 1 papers should be accepted or published, or 1 invention patent should be submitted before applying for a Master’s Degree.
